Every time I read accounts of war I find myself being amazed these people don’t snap and go insane, but I guess you do what you have to when you want to stay alive and you’ve been tossed into such a crazy situation.

Michael Yon’s chronicle of a day in the life of an Army unit and the photojournalist following them is compelling. It’s here that I learned a flash over fire caused by an explosion powerful enough to tear a hole in a 28-ton armored vehicle can sear your contacts to your eyes.

Being a contact lens wearer I will use this information wisely and definitely wear glasses whenever I’m in a place where there’s a chance, slim to none even, that I might be nearly blownup.
