Perfection in design

Posted on Monday 15 August 2005

The pint glass is perfect in design and function. Weighty enough to feel right in your hand and shaped perfectly for the job, not too large, not too small. It’s simple and elegant. It’s not wild and extravagant but, like an Isamu Noguchi sculpture it is beautiful.

I suppose it could be made of plastic and have a crazy straw and it would be more useful but glass is earth and earth feels better than plastic. I’m drinking coffee out of a pint glass between each paragraph and change I make and every time I touch it, it’s just nice.

The pint glass is perfect

Hi Scott - It’s been a while since I looked at your site. It’s nice, the blog is, uh, a blog. Somehow not quite as much fun as the BIG MAP! I’ll have to spend some time catching up, I like reading about your travels around Tuscon. Not quite up there with NY to KS, but interesting in a vicarious weird kind of way.

Thanks. I’m about to leave on a two week journey. Maybe I’ll get another map out of it. Which reminds me…I should put the old moving map thing up. I forgot all about that.
