Mint

Posted on Monday 5 September 2005

A lot of people don’t think about mint but it is grown and some of it is grown in fields near Corvallis, Oregon.

There is something amazing and wonderful about driving along and suddenly being overwhelmed with the cool refreshing scent of acres of mint.

It’s like you’re brushing your teeth for miles!

They should make that a tourist attraction. “Come, smell the mint! Make your world smell clean, fresh, and alive wth mint compost!”

Maybe I just don’t understand the tourist mindset.

Actually, when I was in Golden, CO at the Celestial Seasonings plant, I took the Tour of Tea. They take you through the factory, and one of the big attractions of it is the Peppermint Room. They have to keep it in a selaed room or everything will smell like mint. Going in there was like getting the crap beat out of you by a giant Altoid.

Oddly enough, the mint fields of Corvallis are moistened by trickle-down streams from Lake Scope, Oregon, some 15 miles to the north.

That remarkably detailed mint farming information.

The Viking is a strange and mysterious man.
