Nightmare on Epic

Posted on Sunday 11 December 2005

This nightmarish horror producing sound was recorded during an open mic night at Epic Cafe a few weeks ago.

It caused me so much trauma that it wasn’t until I got sick today that I could stomach hearing it again.

There is no video of this travesty. No human being, aside from a few select criminals, should be subject to that.

Of course, should there ever be an alien attack we have the perfect weapon to stop them and all we need is a good sound system.

By the way, I just got a pair of Senheiser headphones and if you value your sanity you do not want to hear this abomination of air waves with good headphones. I’ve already gone beserk twice today while shooting the movie.

How many more times before the police come? What would happen if I turned this sound against them? Would it be like the movie 28 Days and they’d all turn into enraged fast moving zombies with blood lust and crazy eyes and a penchant for quoting Yeats?

I hope we never have to know…

Hey…are those sirens I hear?

[note: Fast moving zombies are much more scary than the simple horde of slow moving dim witted zombies. That’s one of those truisms of movies. The fast moving undead/insane/infected/aliens are scarier than the slow moving ones. Why? People who move fast are creepy. That’s why. It’s just the way it is, evolution built it into us. Just look at all those sprinters in the Olympics. They freak me out that’s for sure. A good head shot will stop them just like a good head shot will stop the zombies no matter whether they move fast or slow. If we learned nothing from the decades of cinema we have learned this one important lesson. Head shots kill zombies! Put it on a bumpersticker. Put it on a t-shirt. Carve it into a bathroom stall doo. It’s information we, as collective humanity, forget at our peril.]
