Old man with a box in the rain

Posted on Sunday 6 August 2006

That could be my future but for now it’s just a succinct description of this photo,

old man with a box in the rain

The happened last week outside my apartment moments before the picture of the car driving through a flooded street (that appears below) during a raging rain storm here in Tucson. I’d never seen him before and I’ve never seen him since.

He’s just a spectre of a man bicycling with a box in the rain. I thought the commitment to not leaving the box behind was touching. I bet he was a Marine. They do that kind of thing.

“You and me, box, we’ve been through hell and back! I ain’t gonna leave you behind!”

“Go…on…old man on a bicycle…you can’t save me…get home…be….dry…uhhhhhh….”

“NOOOOOOOOO! BOX! You gotta stay with me! We’ll be home soon! Box! BOX!”
