There are a lot of people out there who absolutely love zombies. The whole idea of zombies really gets them all revved up and ready to devour.

I find this very odd and incomprehensible since I’m a fan of beautiful imagery and deep multilayered storytelling. The rotting undead do not tickle me in a happy place.

So that’s probably why I helped out assistant directing and production managing on a kind of zombie/social commentary kind of thing this past Sunday. It was a zombie movie with heart.

Advice to people who might be making movies…you can never get extras to show up for anything. People suck, that’s just the way they are.

So when you need extras for your crowd scenes just make sure to write them as needing zombies. That way millions of people will answer your call for extras, they’ll be thrilled and go out of their way to get to you, some will drive hours, or days, out of their way just to be made up like a zombie and, if you play it right, they might even help fund some of the movie.
