I photographed the above while I was waiting for some helpful people to show up to push my car out of the snow when I got stuck trying to get to the top of the mountain where I hoped to have a mystical revelation or at least a long long walk.

12 habaneros finely pureed
10 seranos
10 jalapenos
a tablespoon black pepper
7 cloves of garlic
a splash of sauce and olive oil
roasted corn
topped with mozzarella cheese

baked at 350F for about 10 minutes

made me ponder life and the universe,

after the second piece.

It was all pretty trippy and highly recommended for seekers.

That made me realize that all the predators of the world are really cool. No one ever says, “Boy, those pigeons are so freaking cool! I sure do love the way that sheep flock!”

It’s the fox that kill, the wolves that chase, the jaguar that stalks, the falcon that picks prey out of the sky that’s really fucking cool.

Hell, anyone ever hear the phrase, “Damn! This peace conference wrapping up the final negotiations about water rights was so freaking cool I can’t stand it!”? No. Why? Because no one could ever say that without immediately laughing hysterically.

What you might here though is, “Marine snipers are cool!”

Even the pets we tend to keep as a people are the hunters and killers. Cats and dogs hunt. Maybe not those silly foofy inbred monstrosities but little cute kitty purring up a storm is dreaming of slaughtering a million mice and happy doggy is hoping for the day when she can take down a deer and tear it apart with her teeth.

Humans love killing. Humans love the animals that love killing.

But isn’t he so cute the way he plays with that toy mouse.

The use of light! Damn you! It’s overwhelming how beautiful Jesse James was.

I can’t even get around crafting such perfect images. It’s thrilling and depressing at the same time. The infinitude of possibilities in that one moment. The interplay of light and dark and the subconscious emotional connection forged through their play. Having no idea how to craft any of that.

It’s odd that it’s so rare to see something so amazingly perfect. You don’t get that much in plain old life which is a shame really. Some people claim that everything is rare and beautiful but I think they’re just taking the good drugs and leaving the rest of us to wonder who they know.

Because I spend a whole lot of time in the real world and I’ve only once or twice seen anything as amazing as the simple shots of shadows in a house used underneath the narration in Jesse James.
