About 15 years ago…literally that long ago…the ridiculous suicide methods joke that you guys keep finding was written as part of a long humorous essay on the magazine The Economist while I was killing time and doing something to learn HTML. It got copied and disseminated and now I have zero control over it.

Your comment is one of those things that have always amazed me. Not once in all the years I’ve been using the internet (started in 1986 in engineering school) have I felt compelled to insult random people just because I don’t like what they’re saying/doing/etc. Not once. You know what I do? I leave the page. Very simple. Kind of like real life.

Do you tell people you meet the real world that they suck? Do you comment on random people’s lives, you know absolutely nothing about, when you meet them on the street?

Probably not if you don’t want to get punched throughout the day. So I’m going to recommend you resort to those rules, think about your actions, and do the one that requires the least effort and strain.

And as for the dark humor that got you here. Clearly you did not read it because if you did you might have realized that “putting your head in the holiday turkey” is not the most efficient way of killing yourself. It’s also going to be noted that back in the bygone days of yore, when the internet was young, many many people found that page while actually searching for “suicide methods” laughed and then didn’t kill themselves that day. As far as I know none of the people who laughed ever killed themselves.

Thus we can come to the conclusion that humor is the only way to approach life otherwise you end up sending insulting comments at 2:17 AM instead of partying or having spiritual sex or even watching the Venture Brothers.
