Red flowers

These are reddish flowers. That’s it. Reddish flowers. It’s the least creative caption ever.

Private road apocalypse

Some people really hate the idea of private roads. This is America where we have guns and if your sign is going to tell us not to do something that something is probably going to be violated with extreme caliber carnage.

And I wonder who is patrolling that road. They sure aren’t doing all that an effective job.

Erosion in a giant hole

There is much erosion inside a giant giant hole. Standing at the center you can imagine you’ve left the modern world and entered the future home of an evil villain organization.

Wood…it hates civilization

Wood hates civilization

Some pieces of wood, not all wood mind you, but some seem to hate civilization. Why? There are myriad reasons. Still it’s nice to think that the wood isn’t out to get you when you’re walking in nature. Bears, tigers, snakes, bees maybe…just not the trees. Photo taken at Sycamore Canyon on the Arizona/Mexico border.

DANGER!!! Where? Over there!

Danger...that way

There is danger wherever arrows point. That’s one thing I learned from a helicopter ride while acting as a guide to a filming location for this music video.

Another thing is that it’s really really really really fun to hang out the side of a bubble canopy helicopter (something that looked like it was from the tv show MASH) while taking photos.

What do you think these faces want?

Firey faces

Was burning leaves and important papers, “covert CIA being over run by NVA”-style, practicing because you can never be too prepared, in the chiminea in the yard a few nights ago and started taking photos way too close to the fire. This is one of those shots. Now, the question I wonder is why there are two ghostly faces and what do they want?

The magical world of PHP

It’s tormenting me that’s what it is doing. What’s curious about all this web stuff, that no one besides the likes of massive computing clouds like Google will ever see, is the neverending battle against the whims of numerous systems all doing their own tasks and trying, trying ever so hard, to do the right thing.

And they fail. And when they fail it takes forever to figure out why or it takes rights you don’t have to fix the system. Which has happened to me in the past week three times.

Granted, I don’t know what I’m doing. That has to be said. There was a time in the distant past when I was a kind of computer god. Computers/IT/web/programming the whole shebang is not like a riding a bicycle. In fact, and in theory too, sometimes in practice just not in competition or in a bucket of gelatin, touching upon this world again has been quite a revelatory experience.

It’s all too easy for your mind to slide into senselessness and delusion. Anything relating to computers is sure to drive one mad and lead to possible insanity if not worse.

Sure they say insanity is bad but then they never tell you which version of insanity they’re talking about. The crazy rant down the street kind of crazy or the Buddhist oneness. Both are crazy but which kind of crazy would you prefer?

Surely the Buddha never had to deal with the arcanity of the back end of the web. If he did there definitely would have been more cursing and screaming in the Sutras.
