The Poet

Dave Halenda is a fine actor and might be one of the most creative people I’ve ever met. If he had any ability to focus or to maintain motivation for more than a minute and a half, he’d take over LA.

So when he showed up Thursday (Aug. 11, 2005 for anyone out there trying to remember) at Epic Cafe open mic and told me he wanted to parody the bad poet, I did a happy little jig. I do that a lot these days now that I drink more beer than I used to.

He even managed to get himself scheduled just after the bad poet and that was damn cool in the way a real life bitch slap to the bad poet might have been…just to make him stop. I’m also proud that Dave used some of an email I sent him in the bit towards the end.

Tech notes: shot on a 5 year old a tiny Sony PC100 with only face lighting. The little bit of processing I did in Avid Xpress made it prettier if not better. Also, I suck at sound so that’s the best I could do. Sorry about that.

Without further ado, Dave Halenda as The Poet.
